MEET THE TEAM

Alexandra Paterson

Director / Senior Groomer

Meet Alexa, the heart and soul behind Paws Pitstop. With her formal Level 3 City and Guilds grooming qualifications earned in London under the guidance of her mentor, friend, TV personality and celebrity talent judge, Colin Taylor, as featured on BBC One’s “Pooch Perfect,” Alexa embarked on her journey to become a dog groomer.

In 2009, she founded Paws Pitstop as a mobile dog grooming business, which quickly saw demand grow exponentially. This overwhelming demand led to a natural progression of moving the business into a physical bricks-and-mortar salon, where the business has remained since.

Alexa has always had a keen interest in dogs from a very young age, garnering herself a detailed knowledge of breed history and behaviour, as well as a highly successful background in dog showing. Alexa has shown her champion Fox Terrier at Crufts, as well as many other international competitions, and as a result, she is renowned for her exceptional specialist animal handling and dog grooming skills, which have elevated Paws Pitstop to the position of being the most distinguished dog grooming salon in Jersey. Her expertise has not only helped dogs but also won the hearts of Jersey’s canine and human population alike!

“Drawing from over 15 years of hands-on experience in the industry, I’ve mastered the art of managing even the most challenging canine behaviors. I’ve carefully assembled a grooming team that are specialist standard-bearers with genuine canine backgrounds and have a profound interest in dogs as a species, which means animal welfare is at the centre of our operation. We have a commitment to excellence, ensuring that all our groomers hold a Level 3 City and Guilds qualification—a standard that sets us apart from those who may suggest online diplomas as an equivalent.” – Alexa
